Voltage ratings for single-phase motors will be listed as 115 volts, 208 volts, or 230 volts. Three-phase motors have typical voltage ratings of 208, 240, 440, 460, 480, and 550 volts. Other voltages may be specified for some special-type motors. Make certain that the power supply voltage rating matches the voltage rating of the motor. If the rating and the power supply voltage don't match, the motor will overheat and be damaged.
