Many types of relays are used in industrial applications
today. Fig. 1 (below) shows several of the more common types
of relays. These relays may be soldered on a printed circuit board or
mounted in an electrical panel. Some of the relays use a socket-type
mounting arrangement so that they can quickly be removed and replaced
during troubleshooting. Some of the relays have a clear plastic case
as a cover so that the technician can see whether the contacts are open
or closed.
